Markus Dickerson Signs with Norwegian Side Kongsvinger IL

For Immediate Release - Talented American Goalkeeper, Markus Dickerson Signs with Norwegian Side, Kongsvinger IL

Los Angeles, California, July 17th 2014, 9:00AM - Markus Dickerson, a goalkeeper from Los Angeles, California has signed a professional contract with Norwegian 2nd Division side Kongsvinger IL. He has been given shirt number 24.

Markus arrived in Norway in February after on a referral from his agent, Concorde Sports Agency, which has good relationships with teams in Europe. He was was referred to Kongsvinger IL during their preseason in February. On March 15th, Markus helped Kongsvinger IL in their victory over Tippeligaen side Stabæk Fotball, a much bigger side, during a preseason match. He saved a penalty in the 86th minute and Kongsvinger IL ultimately won the match 2-1. His performance in this game was noticed by some Tippeligaen clubs, where the comments were "his arms cover the entire goal", he however remained committed to Kongsvinger IL. He was registered with Kongsvinger IL on amateur terms until the Norwegian transfer window opened on July 15th.

Markus Dickerson is a 1.96 meters tall goalkeeper who holds both America and British passports. As a youth he was a multi-sport athlete, playing both American football (gridiron) and soccer (traditional Association football) at the same time. He played wide receiver in American football and was a goalkeeper. After completing high school he attended California State University Dominguez Hills on a full athletic scholarship where he majored in Psychology with a minor in Business.

I also would like to thank the athletic coaching staff, especially Coach Joe Flanagan, and my goalkeeper coaches Mike Littman who encouraged me a lot as well as coaches Jeff Tuttle, Drew Rea and Daniel Gonzalez (formerly of Chivas USA). Lastly, I want to thank all of my former teammates at the Toros (California State Dominguez Hills soccer team) who helped me get here."

His family in England is from Norwich and he is a fan of the Norwich Canaries.
